About

Hello and welcome to my sound design artist portfolio and sound-blog! You’ll be able to find examples of my sound projects and works. In the blog section I share many personal sound stories behind the artistic process of creating signature sound effects.

I work as a sound designer with 7 years of professional experience in the field of game audio and film. I spend a lot of time recording unique and exclusive sound effects, which I end up using in all my audio productions. I believe that customized sound effects without heavily relying on commercial libraries will help add an extra layer of exclusivity to the final product.

I discovered the art of sound at a very young stage. With a mother and grandfather both working as professional performers and musicians – musical education always was valued highly within my family. At the age of four I started to learn the piano and cello. And I did that for a while… until I was about 14 and found a different, new exciting instrument at that time. A sound I have not heard before. The electric guitar – my very first sound design tool! I spend hours playing it, but mostly engineered its mechanical parts out – finding ways to experiment with its pick-up element.

After completing civil services (which mandatory in Germany) in 2000, I geared up for a short vacation to visit friends in Melbourne, Australia. And… I never left – at least, not for the next three years! Because I have always  been fascinated by the idea of making films, and film art in general,  I got an internship at Warner Brothers Studios in Queensland, Australia, where I learned from Vic Kaspar, supervising sound editor & sound editor (House of Flying Daggers, Kung Fu Hustle, Inspector Gadget 2). Watching him work at creating sound effects changed my life. I was 20 years young, ambitious and sure that I wanted to become a sound artist! In 2003, I graduated with a Bachelor of Recording Arts degree (honors) from the SAE HQ college in Byron Bay, Australia. My final thesis concentrated on the emotional perception of sound in modern media, and I analyzed significant media productions that used sound in a strong context to tell a story and help build emotional audio in a scene.

Always with a passion about the play itself, games were another huge influence from day one. Sleepless nights of playing Doom and Quake got me hooked for many years! In 2006, I won the G.A.N.G Student Award Competition for best Sound Design conducted at the GDC (Game Developers Conference) in San Francisco. There it was – a break into the games industry! Shortly after, I was asked to work for Dynamedion, as a Sound Design contractor, one of the largest game audio production houses (music & sound design) in Europe, with their Headquarters in Mainz, Germany. I worked remotely with them on many video game titles and diverse multimedia projects, from small to big, portable to console. I continue to work  for them to this day.

In 2009, I moved to America, from Berlin with the opportunity to work in the United States receiving a H1B visa. I got hired as a Lead Sound Designer at UTV Ignition Entertainment, in Florida, to overlook the artistic audio aesthetic of their technically ground-breaking first person shooter that was going to be released on PC, Xbox, PS3 in late 2011. The studio has closed its doors in late 2010.

The journey continuous… Stay tuned to a detailed update on upcoming projects! :)
